September 2, 20205 Professional house cleaning tips to keep that bathroom sparkly clean
Contents
Your bathroom is arguably one of the dirtiest rooms in your home or office. It’s strange to consider that the place that we use to get ourselves clean is not so clean. The moisture from those long hot showers leads to quite the collection of germs. Handles on the sink and bathtub faucet can harbor coliform and staph bacteria. And shall we even mention the toilet seat? That surface can harbor dangerous strains of staphylococcus, norovirus, E. coli, shigella, and streptococcus.
For these reasons and more, you need to clean your bathroom at least once per week preferably using a professional house cleaning services. No one, however, likes to clean the bathroom. So, we’ve made it easy by compiling some of our favorite bathroom cleaning hacks from our house cleaners in Tampa. We clean bathrooms as part of our professional house cleaning services, check out these suggestions.
Five Professional house cleaning hacks to make your bathroom sparkle and shine
1. Bathroom mirror – You know that this surface can attract some unwanted and unattractive splatters. Think of the last time you flossed your teeth or washed your hands. Not a pretty experience. Sure, you can use Windex and a paper towel to get the mirror clean, but a tremendous and chemical-free method to clean your mirror just requires some strong black tea and a soft lint-free cloth. The tannic acid in the black tea can gut through the grime that builds up on mirror surfaces. Just moisten the material with the tea and then rub it circularly on the mirror to remove the filth. Use a separate lint-free cloth to dry the mirror.
2. Chrome faucets and fixtures – You know that this surface can attract some unwanted and unattractive splatters. Think of the last time you flossed your teeth or washed your hands. Not a pretty experience. 3. Clogged drains – If you or someone else in your household has long hair, you have probably come across a “drain mouse” on occasion. Unfortunately, over time that hair will accumulate within the drain, leaving you with a remnant much like a mousy critter. To avoid hair accumulation or remove a clog without relying on a detergent laden with chemicals, try dropping four or five Alka-Seltzer tablets down the clogged drain, followed by one to one and a half cups of distilled vinegar. Proceed to wait ten minutes. Rinse by pouring a medium-sized pot of boiling water down the drain.
4. Shower scum – Your shower is often used once if not multiple times a day, depending on how many people share the bathroom. This can lead to quite the build-up of soap scum from shampoos, soaps, body washes, and more. To remove the soap scum, fill a dish wand with half grease-cutting dish soap and the other half vinegar. You’ll be amazed how quickly your shower will be sparkling again.
5. Toilet – We saved the best (or worst) for last. White vinegar, usually a kitchen staple, does a tremendous job of fighting mold, germs, and bacteria. So, after you have cleaned your shower with vinegar, try it on the toilet too. However, rather than use a dish wand, grab a clean and empty spray bottle and add the vinegar to that. Pour some vinegar into the tank of the toilet too, and then spray vinegar around the toilet seat using the spray bottle. To clean under the rim, grab some rubber gloves and soak a paper towel with some vinegar. Stuff the vinegar-soaked paper towel along the inside edge of the toilet and let it sit while you scrub the bowl with vinegar and your toilet brush. After, remove the wadded-up paper towel, rub along the rim with your cleaning brush, and then flush. Be sure to discard the paper towel in a wastebasket – don’t flush.
With just these simple professional house cleaning hacks, your bathroom will be looking sparkly and new in no time. Further, you’ll sleep better knowing that you have killed dangerous germs and bacteria without the use of harmful chemicals and cleaning agents.
